Our chicken thighs are bone in, skin on and we offer them as a 2 pack. Thighs are dark meat and amongst the favorite for grilling.
Online prices may be higher than in store purchase because of weight differences. Online prices are based on approximate weights as to where the store prices are based on actual weight. You may receive a pack of meat that is priced less than what you paid for it and this is the reason for it.
Pastured animals have less fat content than commodity animals. Please keep this in mind when cooking that you may need to add some oil. For best results do not thaw or cook in microwave. We have found that allowing it to thaw slowly and cooking with a slow wet heat provides the best results. If you are preparing a whole bird we recommend that it be cooked with the breast down. White meat cooks faster than dark and as it bakes juices from the dark meat drain down into the breast helping to keep it moist.
Our Broilers are started indoors for the first week then moved to outside brooders. Around 3 weeks they are put on mixed grass pastures in portable pens that are moved regularly to provide access to green grass, bugs, fresh air and sunshine. They are supplemented with a starter/grower feed that is custom blended for us at a local feed mill. We do not use antibiotics, growth promoters and hormones or feed animal by-products.
